10 New Generation Bands That Rightfully Deserve An Iconic Status



As much as it can be argued, the 90s and the 21st century has produced a lot of game-changing bands. Critically acclaimed bands such Tool, Audioslave, Rage Against The Machine, System Of A Down and Wolfmother have made an enormous contribution to the world of music and are legends in their own right. However, there are a few that get lost in the clutter. These are bands that truly deserve more credit than they receive.
Here are 10 underrated new generation bands that truly deserve to go down in the history books.     
Freak Kitchen
Their compositions are so intricate, they almost seem impossible to cover. The band is acclaimed for infusing elements various genres, including Indian classical amongst others into a traditional heavy metal sound. Frontman Mattias Eklundh’s miraculous ability to sing and play complicated riffs at the same time makes him seem more of a cyborg than a human being.
HalestormHalestorm’s aggressive hard rock style compositions coupled with powerful ballads make it one of the most versatile bands out there. Lead singer Lzzy Hale’s incredible ability to hit high notes with grit and to deliver equally compelling clean vocals makes her a force to be reckoned with. The band received its first Grammy for best hard rock/metal performance with their song, Love Bites (So Do I).
HelmetThe alternative metal band from New York cit, is famously known for its unpredictable, staccato guitar riffs and is popularly regarded as the “thinking person's heavy metal band." They found some mainstream success when they released their album Meantime in 1992, which debuted at number 68 on the Billboard 200.However, the band never achieved the widespread fame that it truly deserved.
PrimusThis is one of those bands that is difficult to be categorised under a particular genre. Many critics have deemed Primus as funk metal band, but you will go nuts figuring that out. The band is acclaimed for its irreverent, quirky approach to music and has been credited to be one of the bands that have paved way for the Nu Metal genre. The Band’s frontman Les Claypool was featured at number 5 in Rolling Stone’s list of top ten bassists of all time.
Symphony XSymphony X is regarded by many as the best new age progressive metal band.  Every member in the band is an exceptional individual musician and their signature orchestra style of sound arrangements makes them one of  the most unique bands to have arrived in the music scene.
DragonforceIf you were asked to define this band in two words, it would be "lighting fast". Although the band’s characteristic high-speed dual guitars sound fits into the power metal bracket, they have been defined as various other things, including Nintendo metal, extreme power metal, speed metal, amongst others.
Dead SaraArmed with raw powerhouse vocals of lead singer Emily Armstrong and the flashy guitars of Siouxsie, Dead Sara is one band you should watch out for. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl said "Dead Sara should be the next biggest rock band in the world". There is a good reason why we should belive him.      
Andy TimmonsAndy Timmons is one of the finest guitarists you can ever listen to.  His ability to add pinch notes into guitar solos is simply incredible. With compositions that can bring tears into your eyes, he is one artist that has been highly underrated.
The AristocratsThe Aristocrats are proof that when three veteran musicians come together, all hell breaks loose. Guthrie Govan (guitarist), Bryan Beller (bassist), and Marco Minnemann (drummer) were to perform at the Anaheim Bass Bash during the Winter NAMM show in January 2011. They nailed the show with just one rehearsal. The performance was so wildly appreciated that they decided to become a band.
PowergloveNamed after a Nintendo accessory, Powerglove is essentially an all instrumental cover band. What do they cover? This band is famous for making insane power metal renditions of classic video game music.
